Company History
Our company traces its origins to 1984 offering Construction Management along with General Contractor services in the commercial construction community.
Phoenix Contractors has completed over 2,000 projects during the company’s history, and continues to manage by quality of service provided.
Located in Southeastern Michigan, Phoenix Contractors, Inc., have earned the community’s respect as high-quality service providers through our consistent hard work and conscientious attention to details. Our success is attested to by the continued business our clients entrust to us, as well as the many personal and project awards our company and employees have received.
Meet Our Staff
President
Mark W. Hiser
Owner and President, Phoenix Contractors
Mark Hiser joined Phoenix Contractors in 1996. Today, as president and owner of our firm, he works to ensure our on-time, within-budget completion of construction projects for clients in the transportation, commercial, retail, service, health care, multi-family residential, public, religious, academic, and industrial arenas, among others.
Mark’s fine work has been recognized over the years with several Pyramid Award for “Best Project Team” from the Washtenaw Contractors Association (WCA) as well as the 2025 recipient of the W. Nelson Vander Hayden Award. He has also been honored with a Design & Construction Showcase Award and several AIA Awards with Huron Valley and Detroit. Part of his success in ownership can be attributed to his hands on nature, he is a leader by example in every sense of the phrase.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from Eastern Michigan University in 1986. He has served as a curricular advisory board member at EMU, an industrial relation committee member and education committee member for the American General Contractors Association, and an education committee member for the Washtenaw Contractors Association.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
JOEY HISER
Project Manager, Safety Director
Joey Hiser has been with Phoenix Contractors, Inc., Since 2019 and is a graduate from Eastern Michigan University. Joey is a team first, client driven project manager. His contributions in estimating, scheduling and management has offered each project a truly skilled team leader. Joey was a defensive back for the EMU Eagles and made two bowl appearances in his four years with the eagles. Joey is an accomplished project manager and also serves as the safety director for the company as well.
Joey is an area leader in project management and has worked closely with several clients including; Chelsea Schools, Ypsilanti Public Library, H&R Block, Wayne State University, Food Gathers, Book Walter Dental, Dexter Community Schools, Monroe Community College, Eastern Michigan University, The City of Ann Arbor, The University of Michigan and many more.
Joey is also a graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.

NOAH D. HISER
Project Manager, Secretary of Construction, EEO
Noah Hiser has been with Phoenix Contractors, Inc., Since 2010 and is a graduate from Hillsdale College. Noah has been the project manager and team leader on many significant projects. Noahs is well known for his project leadership and his collaborative work to project teams. Noah played Wide Receiver for the Hillsdale Chargers and is also a two-time All American 400m sprinter for the Chargers Mens Track Team. Noah began his tenure with Phoenix as a summer laborer and has become a leader in project management.
Today Noah serves as Secretary of Construction for the company as well EEO officer. Noah is the 2024 WCA's Rising Star Award Recipient and WCA's 2023 Pyramid Award Winner "Best Project Team." Noah is also an IAP Board Member for the Washtenaw Contractors Association and a graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.
Noah is an award winning project leader and has managed projects through out the area for many clients includin; The University of Michigan Hospitals, Ann Arbor Public Schools, Ypsilanti Food Co-op, Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation, Washtenaw County Road Commission, Peace Neighbor, Dexter Schools, Peace Neighborhood, Chelsea Schools, Recycle Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Scio Township, Wolverine Pipeline and many more.

Field Superintendents and Staff
Ryan Hansen
Senior Superintendent
Ryan has extensive knowledge in planning, scheduling and sequencing trades to ensure continuity throughout the duration of the project. He is a schedule, quality, budget and safety enforcer and very well respected by the owners, A/E's, trades and local officials. Ryan's company and project contributions are immense as he has been a steadfast manager with Phoenix for almost three decades.
He is also a Licensed Heavy Equipment Operator and is experienced in site work, underground utility work, paving and parking, steel building structures and heavy building construction projects. He has delivered over 125 construction projects with the highest degree of quality and safety.
Ryan has developed trusting relationships with many area owners and architects. His list of completed projects is extensive and partially includes; Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation, Washtenaw County Road Commission, The City of Chelsea, The City of Saline, Washtenaw Community College, Garrett's Space, Racquet Up Detroit, Dexter Schools, Gretchen's House, Saline Library, Food Gatherers, Wayne State University and many more.

CHRISTOPHER B. LOVE
Senior Superintendent
Chris has extensive experience in on time and on budget project delivery. Being part of the Phoenix team for almost three decades, he has been a major contributor to the many projects completed by Phoenix through out the area. Well respected and well known in the community and industry, Chris is a go to in the construction area. In addition to his attention to detail, schedule, budget, quality and safety, Chris brings to the table solutions and schedule enhancement. As a leader on the project, Chris is a mentor through out Phoenix and the surrounding industry.
Chris is the recipient of the National Safety Consultants, Safety Super of the year and has lead many safety management meetings and general oversight with in the company.
Chris has an extensive list of completed project and relations with area owners, A/E's, Trades and local officials. His partial project client list includes; The University of Michigan, Washtenaw Community College, Avalon Housing, Huron Valley Humane Society, Ozone House, Dexter Community Schools, Friends of Animals Metropolitan Detroit, Private Condo Developments, The City of Ann Arbor, Zingerman's Restaurants, The Ark, Several Religious Organizations and many more.

Nick Hiser
Senior Superintendent
Nick grew up in Phoenix Contractors, Inc. as a field laborer and hands on go to. He has been an answer man and solution executor, and is an integral part of the company fabric. He brings ideas and energy to field operations and has over 2 decades of project experience. Nick has a degree from Adrian College where he was a four year defensive end for the Bulldogs. Nick brings his team work and hard work ethic to every project. He is a client first superintendent and will make sure their expectations have been more than met.
Nick has an extensive list of completed projects and an even longer list of projects he been a part of the team to contribute to its solutions and successful completions. His extensive partial list of completed project includes; Isaacs Residence, Dogwood Veterinary Hospital, Washtenaw County Road Commission, Scio Township, The City of Chelsea, Food Gatherers, Book Walter Dental, The Ark, Chelsea Schools, Ypsi Real, Washtenaw Community College, Washtenaw County Road Commission, Saline Police Department and many more.
Nick is also a Washtenaw Contractors Association graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.

Joseph Love

Jacob Autrey
Senior Superintendent
Jacob is a long time member on the Phoenix Contractors, Inc. management team. Jacob has a background in management, masonry trades and mitigation controls. His education includes Washtenaw Community College and Eastern Michigan University. Jacob is a solid teammate and is a solution based superintendent leading by dedication and consistency.
His impressive partial list of completed projects include; Ypsilanti District Library, Buff City Soaps, Ann Arbor Public Schools, Emerson School, Plymouth Housing Commission Tonquish Creek Senior Housing, 914 State Street Rehabilitation, Augusta Township, Ann Arbor Racquet Club, Racquet Up Detroit, Smoothie King, University of Michigan and many more.
Jake is also a Washtenaw Contractors Association graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.

Zachery McPherson
Senior Superintendent
Zak is a substantial team leader at Phoenix. Zak's project understanding and reliability developed through years of being in the trades and management. He brings to each project, understanding and experience which help facilitate solutions on some of the most complicated build's. Zak is a major team player and is a repeat owner requested superintendent.
He has an impressive and extensive list of completed projects including; Smoothie King (10 Locations), Wayne State University,
Zingerman's Restaurants, Ace Hardware, Dressner Foundation, University of Michigan, Second Baptist Church, Plymouth Housing Commission, Book Walter Dental, Northridge Church, Food Gatherers, Buff City Soaps, and many more.
Zak is also a Washtenaw Contractors Association graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.

Kevin Fulkert
Senior Superintendent
Kevin is an essential part of the Phoenix management team. He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University's Construction Management program and has experience in project management, electrical trades and project supervision. Kevin brings to the project team a vast understanding of delivery. He is a reliable and focused teammate, and is dedicated to the success of every project.
He has an extensive list of successfully completed projects that include; Ypsilanti Food Co-Op, Ann Arbor Recycle, Wolverine Pipe Line, Ichiban Restaraunts (5 Locations), Washtenaw County, University of Michigan Hospitals (several locations), Dexter Schools, Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University, Shape-Ways International, Peace Neighborhood and many more.
Kevin is also a Washtenaw Contractors Association graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.

MARK BATEMAN
Senior Superintendent
Mark is also a Washtenaw Contractors Association graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.

Administrative Staff
Dennis Knight
Director of Finance and Accounting, CFO
Dennis has extensive background in management and accounting, and is a graduate of Sienna Heights University. He brings consistency and dedication to the Phoenix accounting department and provides leadership in the company. As CFO, Dennis is engaged with all accounting functions and operations and is an integral part of the company success. He has been with Phoenix for more than two decades and has a critical role in day to day financial matters.
Dennis is a leader with area banks and title companies, and is well known for his accurate record keeping and preparedness of project documentation. He is a monumental team leader, his project contributions and oversight are essential to the company's success.

TINA BATEMAN
Executive Project Coordinator, Office Manager, Director of Marketing
Tina has an extensive background in management and insurance. She has her licensure from Michigan State University and provides day to day office management. As executive coordinator and director of marketing, she is part of planning and team building on each project and provides oversight to all internal office operations.
Tina, is a leader in Pro-core construction management software and was head of the Pro-core installation, development and training at Phoenix. Tina brings experience and enthusiasm to each project and has worked extensively with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Municipal Leaders, Community Leaders and Non-Profits. Tina's dedication and engagement with each project team makes her a super essential part of the success of the organization. She has a long list of completed projects and even longer list of built relationship's in the industry.

JENNIE CLARK
Executive Project Coordinator
Jennie is a steady and dedicated team member and an integral part of day to day operations. Jennie is a graduate form Western Michigan University and has been an executive coordinator for almost two decades with Phoenix. She has built relationships with owners, architects and subcontractors through out the area. She is Pro-core certified and provides essential coordination and assistance on her team projects and has an extensive list of completed projects.

KAYLA AUTREY
Project Coordinator / Elations Systems Coordinator
Kayla is a major contributor at Phoenix. Kayla is Pro-core certified and also has extensive experience with Elations Management Systems and Certified Payroll Record Management. She is dedicated and consistent and is an essential member of each project team. She has a great understanding of the construction community and has developed remarkable relationships with Owners, Architects and Subcontractors alike. To date, she has accumulated an impressive long list of completed projects.
