Tech Town Detroit, the economic development center and business incubator, chose to adapt a Detroit classic for their new home. The building, designed in 1927 by Albert Kahn, was originally a creative services center for General Motors and their flagship Chevrolet brand. This is where, for example, the ideas for the still-thriving Corvette sports car came to life.

Phoenix Contractors handled the building’s conversion into the ultra-hip, holistically conceived office and lab spaces it provides today to Detroit’s new generation of entrepreneurs and innovators. The building uses sustainable construction materials and keeps volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to a minimum. There are strikingly modern furnishings throughout.
